Join our mission-driven, nonprofit health system as a Trauma Certified Data Registrar and play a vital role in improving trauma care through the collection, analysis, and management of trauma data. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and trauma program accreditation while making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.

What

You'll Do

As a Trauma Registry Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive trauma registry by accurately identifying, abstracting, coding, and entering patient data in accordance with national and state standards. You will work closely with trauma program leadership, physicians, and clinical teams to ensure data integrity and support performance improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and abstract trauma patient cases using established inclusion criteria.
  • Accurately collect, code, and enter clinical data into the trauma registry.
  • Ensure compliance with American College of Surgeons (ACS) trauma registry standards and state reporting requirements.
  • Perform data validation, quality audits, and routine registry maintenance to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Generate reports and assist with trauma program benchmarking, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation activities.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leaders, and quality teams to support trauma performance improvement.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect patient health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Stay current on trauma registry standards, coding updates, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience:

    2 years relevant experience, Trauma Registry experience strongly preferred
  • Licenses/Certifications:

    Must hold at least one of the following certifications:
    Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) or Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) or Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR) certification required.
  • Prefer experience supporting an ACS-verified Trauma Center.
  • Prefer experience with trauma quality improvement initiatives and regulatory reporting.
