We are the behavioral health community organization responsible for the delivery of mental health, substance abuse treatment coordination, and developmental disabilities services for Kent County. We need individuals who are passionate about making a difference by helping others.

We are seeking a Recipient Rights Officer under the supervision of the Recipient Rights Director; the Recipient Rights Officer will assure the agency operates a Recipient Rights System for behavioral health and substance use disorder services that complies with federal and state requirements.

This position is 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5 : 0 0 pm. There are no weekend s , on call, or holiday requirements for this position. This is a remote position, in Kent County, Michigan, with the option to work at 82 Ionia if office space is needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in social sciences, human services, or related field.
  • A minimum of one- year’s professional experience in dispute resolution, report writing, and/or advocacy within a private or public human services agency (or comparable experience) required.
  • Proficient typing and computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Successful completion of MDHHS-ORR Basic Skills training, or ability to successfully complete within three months of hire; completion of ongoing training as required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing confidential information and/or sensitive information in a professional manner
  • Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use.
  • Ability to react and professionally under pressure while engaging with individuals who may be experiencing a time of crisis or complex physical and behavioral/mental health needs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with individuals with mental illness and individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and manage time in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers and other community colleagues in a professional environment.
  • Ability to clearly convey information to individuals in groups or public settings
  • Ability to quickly analyze data and other information, make clear decisions based upon the information, and accurately document this process in writing.
