• Provide non‑clinical, evidence‑based peer support services as a member advocate, sharing coping skills and recovery information for members.
• Assist members in regaining control of their own lives through individual recovery planning, wellness self‑management, and strengthening resilience to improve personal health outcomes.
• Role‑model competency in recovery, resiliency, and wellness practices.
• Give peer support to members with mental health and substance use conditions who need intensive wellness support and recovery‑oriented interventions.
• Guide members in creating Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP®) to identify wellness self‑management and crisis prevention strategies based on member’s choice.
• Utilize the 8 dimensions of wellness to help members identify their social determinants of health needs and establish whole‑health goals and objectives.
• Help members identify options and participate in all decisions related to establishing and achieving their recovery goals, functioning as a member of their treatment/recovery support team.
• Develop problem‑solving skills so members can respond to challenges that arise in their recovery process.
• Implement strategies to help members keep important follow‑up appointments by identifying barriers and obstacles and collaborating to find solutions.
• Engage members in inpatient settings to facilitate post‑crisis planning, assist with transitions from different treatment settings, and navigate multiple systems.
• Facilitate community participation and inclusion for members, encouraging exploration and pursuit of community roles.
• Implement, coordinate, and monitor strategies for members and families to improve health and quality‑of‑life outcomes.
• Advocate for member’s needs by identifying and addressing gaps in services and supports.
• Educate providers, supporting staff, members, and families on resiliency and recovery principles, strategies, and tools.
• Facilitate a team approach to member care in collaboration with the Magellan care coordination team.
• Document all interactions according to company standards.
• Maintain professional responsibility to maximize supervision, respond appropriately to personal stressors that impact ability to perform job duties, and recognize crisis situations or risks to the member’s safety and respond appropriately.
• Travel to meet members within the community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Live in Las Cruces, NM or surrounding area.
• Work at home position with extensive travel in the community.
• 2+ years of experience with children who have received services from a child‑serving agency for mental health or co‑occurring related issues, peer support.
• CPRS/CPS/CPSS/CRPS/PRSS or Peer Specialist certification as required by state.
• Must obtain or already hold the National Peer Support Credential (NCPS/NCPRSS) within one year of hire.
• Self‑identified person in recovery; current or former user of mental health/substance use services who can relate to others who are now using those services.
• Must have a vehicle in good, working condition with the ability to travel within the field regularly.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Product Suite.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to make decisions that require significant analysis of solutions, quick, original, and independent thinking.
• Ability to determine appropriate courses of action in complex situations that may not be addressed by existing policies or protocols.
