Position: Billing/Scheduling Associate II (Remote) – Neurology

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Billing/Scheduling Associate II to support its Neurology department in a remote role.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting patients with billing-related inquiries, collecting insurance information, coordinating appointment scheduling, and providing administrative support to ensure smooth healthcare operations. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with patients, physicians, and healthcare teams while managing scheduling and billing processes effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain insurance information from patients and provide guidance regarding available financial assistance options.
  • Schedule and register patients through phone and email communication while collecting required demographic and insurance details.
  • Coordinate with physicians and clinical staff regarding urgent or referred patient scheduling requests.
  • Review patient schedules and make necessary updates when required.
  • Contact patients for appointment reminders and process internal physician referrals.
  • Explain billing processes to patients and respond to inquiries from patients and third-party payers.
  • Assist with account maintenance activities and resolve moderately complex issues.
  • Support reminder systems, scheduling updates, and provider template adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate records using healthcare systems and office tools.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle patient information with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Experience with:
    • Billing systems and insurance processes.
    • Medical office support and scheduling.
    • Epic EHR or similar healthcare systems.
    • Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Healthcare billing procedures.
    • Insurance documentation and third-party claims.
    • Patient scheduling and administrative coordination.
