Virtual Medical Scribe

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Virtual Medical Scribe based in the United States.

As a Virtual Medical Scribe, you will provide real-time documentation support directly to physicians during outpatient patient encounters. You will serve as a critical link between clinical care and electronic health records, helping physicians maintain accurate and complete documentation while they focus on their patients. The role offers hands-on exposure to clinical workflows, medical terminology, and electronic health record systems. You will work closely with physicians and gain valuable insight into how clinical decisions are documented and communicated.

This is a fully remote opportunity designed for individuals who are detail-oriented, technologically comfortable, and passionate about healthcare. It can also provide valuable experience for those pursuing future careers in medicine, nursing, physician assistance, or other healthcare fields.

Accountabilities
  • Provide real-time EHR charting support to physicians during outpatient patient visits, documenting encounters accurately and comprehensively.
  • Act as a direct virtual documentation assistant, capturing relevant patient information and translating the physician's discussion into appropriate clinical documentation.
  • Support documentation of key clinical components, including histories of present illness, physical examinations, reviews of systems, and other elements of patient encounters.
  • Interpret clinical terminology and physician communications accurately while maintaining attention to detail and documentation quality.
  • Support physicians across multiple patient encounters while maintaining efficient workflows and timely completion of electronic medical records.
  • Work directly with physicians to understand documentation preferences, clinical workflows, and patient-care processes.
  • Build practical knowledge of clinical charting, medical terminology, laboratory reports, and healthcare documentation standards.
  • Maintain a secure, HIPAA-compliant home working environment and protect confidential patient and healthcare information.
  • Successfully complete required medical terminology assessments, training, and ongoing performance assessments.
Requirements
  • Recent experience as a Medical Scribe, Medical Assistant, Medical Transcriptionist, or similar healthcare support professional, or completed coursework/training in Anatomy and Physiology and Medical Terminology.
  • Other relevant clinical experience may be considered.
  • Ability to successfully complete an initial medical terminology assessment and the required scribe training program and assessments.
  • Strong computer, typing, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute with 90% accuracy, demonstrated through a required typing assessment.
  • Experience working with an EHR/EMR platform such as Epic, Cerner, Athena, or similar systems is preferred.
  • Experience supporting outpatient clinical documentation or working within a medical specialty is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with healthcare technology and how technology integrates into clinical workflows is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, initiative, adaptability, and ability to work independently.
  • Passion for healthcare and interest in developing a long-term career in the medical field are valued.
  • Bilingual capabilities are a plus and may require successful completion of a bilingual assessment.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must currently reside within the United States.
  • Must have a dedicated, HIPAA-compliant workspace and a secure, reliable internet connection.
  • Must be available for uninterrupted 8–10 hour daytime shifts, Monday through Friday, during outpatient operating hours between 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. in the applicable U.S. time zone.
  • Must be willing to commit to a minimum of 10 months of employment.
