Remote Catering Logistics Planner

Our client is seeking a highly organized and proactive Remote Catering Logistics Planner to join their dynamic team, supporting operations across various locations, with a focus on streamlining event delivery from a distance. This is a unique opportunity for an individual with exceptional planning and coordination skills to contribute to seamless catering experiences without the need for on-site presence. You will be responsible for managing all logistical aspects of catering events, including sourcing, vendor coordination, inventory management, and ensuring timely delivery of supplies and services.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, adept at using digital tools for communication and project management, and possesses a strong understanding of the catering supply chain. This role is critical in ensuring that our client's catering services operate efficiently and effectively, maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction regardless of the event location. You will work collaboratively with remote teams, event managers, and suppliers to achieve logistical excellence.

This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in South Africa.

• Plan and manage all logistical requirements for catering events, including menu translation into supply needs.
• Coordinate with a network of approved vendors for food, beverage, equipment, and staffing.
• Manage inventory levels for catering supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and optimal stock rotation.
• Oversee the scheduling and coordination of deliveries and pickups to event sites.
• Develop and maintain detailed logistical plans and timelines for each event.
• Communicate effectively with event managers, chefs, and on-site teams to ensure smooth execution of logistical plans.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any logistical challenges or issues that may arise during event planning or execution.
• Monitor and manage logistical budgets, seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
• Maintain accurate records of vendor performance, inventory, and delivery schedules.
• Utilize project management and communication tools to stay connected with the remote team and stakeholders.

• Proven experience in logistics planning, supply chain management, or a similar role, preferably within the catering or events industry.
• Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Proficiency in using digital communication and project management tools (e.g., Slack, Asana, Trello, Google Workspace).
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
