Required immediately, we are hiring a Payroll & Benefits Specialist in our Winnipeg office.

- Prepare and process bi‑weekly payroll for Canada and the US
- Administer and maintain ADP Time & Labor Management (TLM) for US and Canadian employees
- Configure and maintain pay rules, overtime rules, premiums, and statutory requirements within ADP TLM by jurisdiction
- Ensure all salaries are paid accurately and timely
- Prepare journal entries, records of employment, T4’s, W2’s, remittances, etc. as required
- Prepare ad hoc reports as required
- Handle all inquiries from employees and agencies regarding payroll & benefits
- Process all salary increases, bonuses, commissions, etc. per policy or instructions
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes in accordance with statutory requirements
- Prepare remittances and payment requests as required
- Support all aspects of benefit administration, including working with benefits consultants, carriers, and handling employee inquiries
- Ensure new enrollments, terminations, or changes to employee benefits are updated promptly in all required portals
- Quarterly and annual Workers Compensation Benefit (WCB) reporting
- Support accountability for US 401(k) and Canadian RRSP/DPSP plans, including working with carriers, consultants, and auditors
- Maintain records for employee contributions and company matches, ensuring transfers to carriers as required
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate employee enrollment
- Provide information to new hires and ensure timely enrollment
- Maintain accurate records of enrollments, terminations, etc.
- Assist employees with pension inquiries as needed
- Support US non‑discrimination testing, 401(k) annual audit, and filing of Form 5500 and 8950 with the IRS
- Support HR for WCB annual and/or quarterly reporting for Canadian provinces and US employees
- Work with jurisdictional workers’ compensation boards to ensure coverage and timely reporting and auditing
- Apply for state (US) withholding/SUI numbers for new employees
- Chair Health & Safety Committee, schedule quarterly meetings, and prepare & post minutes
- Manage building maintenance, coordinating with property developer and service providers
- Perform related duties as assigned
- Knowledge of Canadian and US payroll processing is essential
- Proficiency with ADP Total Source and Workforce Now networks for Canada and US is essential
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, is essential
- Experience with year‑end processing activities (T4’s, W2’s, WCB, HET) would be beneficial
- Must handle confidential information with a high degree of ethics and professionalism
- Effective attention to detail and high accuracy
- Ability and willingness to learn all aspects of HR, initially focusing on payroll and benefits
- Bachelor of Commerce Degree with an HR specialization
- Canadian Payroll Association Certification is an asset
- Noise level is generally quiet
- Sedentary activity requiring reaching, lifting, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, and hearing
- Visual requirement includes close, distance, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment
- Approximately 50% of time spent looking directly at a computer
- Associate frequently required to stand and walk
