Payroll Support Specialist

Hire Art is hiring a Payroll Support Specialist to serve as a specialized Tier 2 escalation point within our Worker Experience team. This role exists to improve speed, accuracy, and ownership of payroll issue resolution by enabling direct payroll execution within defined controls.

This is a worker-facing and client-facing role. You will own payroll-related cases end-to-end—investigating issues, coordinating approvals when needed, executing payroll corrections, and clearly communicating outcomes to workers.

What You’ll Do

Own complex payroll-related worker inquiries from investigation through resolution

Investigate and resolve issues including:

Missing or incorrect pay Backpay and retroactive adjustments

Pay rate adjustments

Tax withholding updates

Garnishment or deduction discrepancies (within guidelines)

Execute payroll corrections directly in payroll systems, following documented SOPs and approval thresholds

Coordinate with client contacts to confirm approvals or details required to correct pay

Partner closely with the Payroll team to:

Learn and document payroll workflows
Identify recurring issues and process improvements

Escalate exceptions outside defined guardrails

Communicate clearly and empathetically with workers about payroll outcomes, timelines, and next steps
Maintain detailed documentation in Zendesk to support auditability and compliance

Support the Worker Experience team with payroll and time & attendance Worker Experience inquiries as needed, acting as a senior escalation point within the team

Requirements

2–4 years of experience in payroll operations or payroll support. HR operations experience is a plus.

Hands-on experience executing payroll corrections (not just answering payroll questions)

C1/C2 level English proficiency with strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong attention to detail and comfort working with sensitive financial data

Sound judgment and ability to follow structured processes and controls

Experience working in ticketing systems (Zendesk or similar)

Ability to communicate professionally with external clients

Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, supporting US-based workers and clients

Nice to Have

Experience supporting US payroll

Familiarity with wage garnishments, tax forms, or multi-state payroll

Experience in an Employer of Record, staffing, or high-volume operational environment
