what you will be doing

as a classification liaison, you’ll guide clients through position management. You’ll consult with agency partners to ensure job descriptions are accurate, up-to-date, and properly aligned within the state’s classification plan to enable optimal organizational structure.

  • serve as a trusted advisor on position classification and job allocation.
  • review and update position descriptions to ensure alignment with job classes.
  • provide expert consultation on classification policies and procedures as related to organizational structure.
  • analyze complex hr scenarios and offer policy-aligned recommendations.
  • contribute to projects that shape the foundation of alaska’s workforce structure and classification plan.

Classification services provides consultation and expertise in job analysis while administering fair and equitable job classification and pay structures to support the state of alaska’s civil service.

the working environment you can expect

this position is based in either anchorage or juneau, depending on the selected candidate’s location. We offer a hybrid telework model, with two full in‑office days per week—giving you the flexibility to balance focused remote work with in‑person collaboration.

  • in juneau, you’ll work from the state office building, right in the heart of downtown, surrounded by local shops, restaurants, and scenic views.
  • in anchorage, your office will be in the atwood building, also centrally located with easy access to downtown amenities and public transit.
