Regulatory Compliance Specialist

With our principal office in Indianapolis and other offices located coast to coast, we are easily accessible to clients nationwide.
The Firm has an opening for a full-time Payroll Specialist based in the Indianapolis office. The Firm has developed an optional 3‑2 hybrid work schedule in which employees are expected to work from the Indianapolis office at least 3 days per week and may work from home up to 2 days per week.
The OpportunityThe primary responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist include accurate and timely semi-monthly payroll processing for all employees, verifying hours, running & preparing reports, balancing benefits to payroll, assisting employees with payroll-related questions, maintaining accurate payroll records, and performing other payroll-related duties. This position is also responsible for assisting the HR & Payroll Director as needed.
- Provides payroll support, including answering employee payroll-related questions.
- Coordinate with HR/Payroll Director to maintain accurate employee pay rates/salary, benefit deductions, accruals, attendance, and bank account records.
- Tracking & communicating with employees in all offices regarding last day of pay period and turning in time sheet with proper backup.
- Explain internal policies & procedures to employees regarding payroll.
- Work with Paycom regarding issues with the system, processing payroll, or similar issues regarding payroll.
- Maintain complete and accurate payroll documentation and transactions.
- Performing payroll reconciliations.
- Preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
- Process commissions, bonuses, and other special pays.
- Conduct payroll and benefit audits.
- Monitor and ensure state and local taxes are registered correctly.
- Ensure employee records for tax with holdings, direct deposits, time off requests, deductions, garnishments, etc., are up to date.
- Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management.
- Assist in recruiting by reviewing, logging, and working with hiring managers to set up interviews.
- Two years of related payroll experience.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Experience in Paycom is helpful.
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Superior communication and organizational skills, including time management.
- Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Proven analytical skills.
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word and Excel.
