This position is headquartered at the Department of Administration State Office Building, 101 East Wilson Street, Madison, WI. This position currently has the flexibility to work remotely up to four days per week. Additional time in the office may be required depending on training and operational needs. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

The Department of Administration (DOA), Division of Personnel Management (DPM) provides centralized and decentralized human resources leadership for the State of Wisconsin government. DPM oversees all state human resources functions including the state civil service system, labor relations, payroll and benefits administration, workforce relations, HR information systems administration and management, policy administration, classification and compensation, the state’s affirmative action, equity, and inclusion programs, and provides training and development to employees, supervisors, and agency leaders statewide.

PositionSummary
This position is responsible for performing classification and compensation activities and analysis for the State of Wisconsin. This position will be assigned to provide technical assistance, consultation and guidance on compensation and classification matters to statewide human resources professionals and agency leadership.
This position performs activities such as conducting organizational reviews and analysis, performing job classification analysis, applying statewide classification and compensation strategies, conducting research related to occupational analysis and/or compensation strategies to attract and retain the state’s workforce; providing consultation and assistance to stakeholders on HR procedures, policies and laws; developing human resource guidelines for assigned areas of responsibility and participating in a variety of special project teams in human resource management assignments that have statewide impact.
At the Senior and Advanced levels, the Classification and Compensation Specialist has greater emphasis on supporting and providing input on policy level assignments, may serve as an enterprise subject matter expert on assigned topics, advises HR leadership and agency heads as needed, and also assists with training or mentoring other staff within DPM and state agencies.
