Payroll Officer
Juice Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well‑established organisation in the search for an experienced and detail‑driven Payroll Officer to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional to take ownership of a large‑scale payroll function, ensuring the accurate and compliant processing of payroll data for approximately 2,600 employees and workers.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, confident working with complex payroll systems, and comfortable managing sensitive information with absolute discretion. This role requires strong legislative knowledge, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a professional environment.
DAY TO DAY:- Processing weekly and monthly payroll data for approximately 2,600 employees and workers, including starters, leavers, HMRC documentation, statutory payments, overtime, court orders, over payments and manual corrections
- Administering payroll compliance including PAYE, NIC, pensions and auto‑enrolment requirements
- Interpreting and implementing payroll policies and procedures accurately and consistently
- Managing and coordinating best practice processes to ensure precise and efficient payroll delivery
- Providing guidance to employees regarding tax codes, national insurance and statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and Shared Parental Leave
- Maintaining accurate payroll data across internal systems
- Preparing payroll information for external agencies including mortgage references and benefits agencies
- Administering, reconciling and liaising with Local Authority and auto‑enrolment pension schemes
- Responding to employee and third‑party payroll queries in a professional and timely manner
- Maintaining and updating payroll systems and documentation
- Extracting payroll data and compiling reports as required
- Ensuring confidentiality and full compliance with GDPR at all times
- Supporting wider business requirements as required
- Payroll qualification or equivalent experience
- Experience working with multiple payroll systems (Access system experience desirable)
- In‑depth knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, confident liaising with employees and management at all levels
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Highly organised approach with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information professionally
