The Workday HCM Consultant supports and maintains Workday HCM with emphasis on Payroll and Expenses, partnering with Payroll, Finance, and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure effective system performance. This role requires a hands‑on professional with broad Workday experience who can quickly contribute to a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate values collaboration, works effectively across multiple Workday modules, and prioritizes practical experience over certifications.

This is a fully remote position offering opportunities for cross‑training and continued skill development within a team‑oriented Workday environment.

Researches innovative idea solutions, consistently looking at ‘what is new’, and getting connected in the Workday community for best practices around what is best for the employee experience. Performs complex configuration to transform and optimize Workday processes to continually improve the end user experience.

• Leads discovery, design and customer confirmation and optimization sessions, demonstrates and explains complex functionality or solutions to functional subject matter experts.
• Observes manual and automated processes on a regular cycle for opportunities to streamline, eliminate risk, and/or close gaps.
• Works with the team to continuously improve solutions, processes, procedures, documentation standards, etc. Ensures delivery of project deliverables and documentation.
• Reviews and provides recommendations to ensure processes are scalable and easily maintained.
• Coaches client during business process design, offering options, risks, and downstream impacts related to decisions.
• Configures the Workday system per client business requirements and Workday standards.
• Demonstrates computational thinking. Identifies problem components, analyzes patterns, removes inefficient configurations or processes, and constructs algorithmic solutions scalable to ongoing client needs.
• Provides alignment and collaboration with project leadership – proactively communicating project risks and issues.
• Ensures functional solutions are compatible with downstream data translation (assists integrators in configuring/testing integrations between Workday and external systems).
• Ensures excellent customer focus, able to assess customer needs, build relationships and manage customer expectations. Knows when to push back, when to elevate, and when to go above and beyond to satisfy a customer.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Five years’ experience

• Hands‑on Workday experience with strong focus on HCM, and demonstrated exposure to Payroll and Expenses modules
• Approximately 5+ years of Workday experience, with the ability to contribute quickly and independently
• Experience working across multiple Workday modules (beyond HCM) to support cross‑training and coverage within the team
• Payroll experience is highly preferred due to a current business gap and close partnership with the Payroll team
• Financials exposure is a strong plus but not required
• Workday certifications are preferred but not required; practical experience is prioritized, with training available for certification if desired
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, share knowledge, and partner effectively with COEs and cross‑functional stakeholders
• Comfortable working in a fully remote, team‑based environment with minimal siloed work

• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) to identify and distinguish colors.
• Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
