Benefits Manager

Professional Search Group is partnering with a leading manufacturing company in Irvine, and we are seeking a proactive and experienced Benefits Manager to oversee and enhance our Client’s employee benefits programs. This role requires a strategic thinker who can drive change, improve employee experience, and partner effectively with leadership, while maintaining operational excellence in benefits administration.

The Benefits Manager serves as the organization’s subject matter expert for U.S. self-funded health and welfare programs, the 401(k) retirement plan, and leave of absence administration. The Benefits Manager partners on the strategic design, maintains oversight, and compliance of benefit programs, directs vendor and broker relationships, leads open enrollment, and analyzes complex claims and cost data to recommend improvements. Partnering with leadership, the Benefits Manager ensures programs are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational goals, while also providing executive oversight for ancillary offerings such as vehicle allowances, remote work stipends, and tuition reimbursement.

• Manage annual open enrollment
  , working closely with healthcare brokers and ensuring site functionality.
• Process weekly claims and billing activities, with most employee support handled by vendors; manage escalations as needed.
• Administer the retirement plan
  , including typical 401(k) responsibilities, quarterly 401(k) committee meetings, and funding requests for employee accounts.
• Explore and contribute to long-term strategies for self-funding and controlling healthcare costs.
• Champion health and well-being initiatives
  , bringing innovative ideas to the organization.
• Work closely with the C‑Suite and Board Members, presenting benefits updates and recommendations.
• Support LOA processes and help identify the most effective outsourcing solutions for benefits administration.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
• Benefits certifications such as CEBS or HR-related certifications are strongly preferred.
• Proven experience with self-funded plans is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, comfortable presenting to executive leadership.
• Tech‑savvy with experience managing benefits platforms and tools.
• Problem solver with initiative, capable of driving change in a long‑tenured workforce.
