The Area People and Culture Manager serves as a key People + Culture leader across multiple Makeready properties, supporting both strategic and day‑to‑day P+C operations while championing Makeready’s culture and guiding principles. This role partners closely with the Area Director of People + Culture, property leadership teams, and Home Office to ensure compliance, strengthen team engagement, and deliver a consistent, high‑quality employee experience across the collection.

Blending operational execution with culture leadership, the Area People + Culture Manager oversees employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, recruiting coordination, and workforce support while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality, professionalism, and organizational excellence.

Requested Tasks

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, employment regulations, and Makeready Guiding Principles.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential team member records and documentation.
  • Support and monitor timecard reviews, partnering with payroll to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely processing.
  • Support and guide day‑to‑day team member relations matters, escalating complex situations to the Area Director of People + Culture and senior leadership when appropriate.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture across all properties.
  • Help plan and execute engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and culture‑building activities that strengthen team experience and retention.
  • Oversee and support recruiting coordination across properties, including job postings, applicant tracking, candidate communication, interview scheduling, and background checks.
  • Facilitate onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring proper documentation, system setup, and compliance.
  • Maintain data integrity within the applicant tracking and HRIS system.
  • Support employee benefits enrollment, changes, and inquiries across multiple locations.
  • Track and administer leaves of absence (FMLA, personal, medical, etc.) in compliance with policy and regulations.
  • File and manage workers’ compensation claims, liaising with insurance providers and supporting proper documentation and follow‑up.
Requested Capabilities
  • Minimum of 2+ years of progressive HR or People + Culture experience required.
  • Experience supporting multi‑property or multi‑unit environments preferred.
  • Strong employee relations and compliance knowledge.
  • Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems preferred.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when needed.

As part of the Makeready collection, we proudly offer a variety of thoughtful benefits and perks for eligible team members including accommodating PTO, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401k and a wide range of additional ancillary benefits. The health, happiness and well‑being of our team is our top priority.
