We are seeking a Senior Benefits Specialist – Leave of Absence to serve as the primary owner for leave of absence administration and colleague workplace accommodations. This role manages the full lifecycle of leave and accommodation cases—from intake through return-to-work—ensuring a supportive colleague experience, strong compliance, and consistent partnership with HRBPs, managers, Benefits, and Compliance. This individual will:
- Lead day-to-day administration of FMLA, state and local leave programs, company leaves, and disability.
- Administer colleague accommodation requests and the interactive process under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable state laws, in close partnership with Compliance and external counsel as needed.
- Collaborate with the Benefits team on broader benefits administration, including vendor coordination, Open Enrollment support, and special projects that enhance how colleagues experience MyHR and Total Rewards.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees requesting medical, parental, personal, and protected leaves, including FMLA and applicable state and local leave programs.
- Conduct intake and 1:1 informational session to explain leave eligibility, timelines, documentation requirements, payroll implications, benefits impact, and colleague responsibilities.
- Administer and track leave cases in Workday and supporting tools/trackers, ensuring accurate documentation, reporting, and audit readiness.
- Monitor and reconcile payroll for colleagues on leave, including PTO usage, salary continuation, and coordination with disability benefits and state programs.
- Partner with third-party administrators (e.g., Unum, disability/leave vendors) to submit, track, and resolve leave and disability claims; elevate complex situations as appropriate.
- Stay current on federal, state, and local leave laws (e.g., FMLA, state family leave, pregnancy/parental leave) and Firm policies, identifying compliance risks and opportunities to simplify and improve the colleague’s experience.
- Responsible for all firm related compliance including but not limited to initiating and completing state required private plan exemptions and submission of all state required payroll and tax filings. Provide training and guidance to HRBPs, managers, and MyHR colleagues on leave policies, processes, and best practices, helping drive consistency across the Firm.
- Serve as the primary owner for colleague accommodation requests and overall accommodation administration.
- Manage the full interactive process, including intake, documentation review, case evaluation, determination, implementation, and follow‑up.
- Review medical and other supporting documentation and assess reasonable accommodation options in compliance with the ADA and applicable state and local laws.
