The Payroll and HR Specialist is responsible for accurately processing payroll for both internal staff and traveling employees, supporting compliance with wage laws, assisting with benefits audits, and administering employee incentives. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. The Payroll & HR Specialist will also assist with employee payroll and benefits inquiries, escalating complex issues when needed.

Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for internal employees.
  • Process weekly payroll for traveling employees.
  • Maintain records of payroll changes during processing
  • Monitor and process state wage changes, coordinating with HR Operations Manager and Sales as needed
  • Support the payroll onboarding process in the HRIS system, including W-4, direct deposit, and I-9 documentation prior to traveler start dates.
  • Assist with the year-end payroll process, including timelines, checklists, and timely W-2 issuance.
  • Conduct regular benefits audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in researching and answering employee payroll and benefit questions, escalating complex issues to the appropriate HR contact.
  • Assist with sick leave law updates, including iSolved system updates and procedure documentation under HR direction.
  • Support I-9 compliance for traveling employees, including maintaining compliance tools and checklists.
  • Enroll employees in company sponsored benefits, following up with needed additional information, such as EOI
  • Assist with the Annual Open Enrollment process, including materials and communication plans for HR review.
  • Administer billable hours bonus and new contract incentives, ensuring accurate payment
  • Respond to unemployment and employment verification inquiries
  • Process employee garnishments, child support and medical support orders
  • Assist with reporting for annual audits and filings
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Education:

Associate or bachelor's degree in business, accounting, human resources or related field is strongly preferred

Experience:

2+ years of Payroll and/or HR experience required

Payroll or HR Designation preferred

  • Ability to adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements

This is largely a sedentary role; requiring minimal physical functions including but not limited to walking, standing, sitting as deemed necessary. This position does require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Ability to operate a computer, telephone, copier, and other office equipment.
