About the role

As a Payroll Associate at Cover Genius, you will be working amongst a rapidly expanding Global Financial Operations team, reporting to the Associate Director, Global Payroll based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This role requires a knowledgeable and resourceful team player who will drive, support and assist in the evolution of the day‑to‑day Australia payroll from outsourced management to potentially an in‑house payroll solution while working cross‑functionally across the organisation.

This role is responsible for managing the end‑to‑end Australia and potentially other country payroll processes while ensuring data integrity, fostering strong employee, payroll vendor and internal relationships and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate is a driven and reliable person with a strong background in Australia and/or global payroll, general payroll accounting principles, exceptional communication skills, a proactive approach to problem‑solving, and wants to be part of a global insurtech company with the vision to protect all customers of the world’s largest digital companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for external and internal stakeholders regarding payroll inquiries, discrepancies, and resolutions. Foster positive working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Payroll Data Collection, Validation, Processing & Payments:
    Review, process, and reconcile payroll output. Ensure accurate and timely payroll payments. Perform monthly Net Suite payroll related journal entries.
  • Data Integrity & Compliance: collaborate with People Team for accurate records and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Process Improvement:
    Identify opportunities for enhancing efficiency within the global payroll function, including automation and streamlining workflows. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement best practices.
  • Reconciliation & Reporting:
    Reconcile payroll General Ledgers. Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing activities as well as drive/support audit requirements.
  • Payroll Vendor/Solution Implementation and Management
To help us level up, you'll ideally have
  • A diploma in accounting, finance and/or payroll is highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of global outsourced and/or in‑house payroll experience.
  • Experience working with various payroll solutions preferred. Strong skills in Microsoft Suite and Google Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of global payroll principles, general accounting practices, and financial controls.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to manage payroll vendor and employee relationships effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
