Lilly is constructing an advanced manufacturing facility in Houston, TX for production of API molecules. This is an opportunity to help build the organization, facility, and culture for a greenfield site.

Manager – Human Resources

The Manager – Human Resources for the Lilly Houston manufacturing site is responsible for implementing initiatives that directly impact employees, leaders and the organizational culture of the site. The role is key to achieving short‑term and long‑term objectives for the site and the broader Manufacturing and Quality organization.

What you’ll do in the role
  • Partner with the site HR Senior Director to design and execute the people strategy and HR initiatives.
  • Provide HR Strategic Business Partner support and serve as a resource for leadership and employees.
  • Own HR data analysis and reporting on key metrics for the site. Deeply understand the HR data, analyze and report, and present to the site leadership team.
  • Help lead HR processes including talent management and succession planning, Pulse and Leadership Compass, recruiting, compensation, and the technical ladder promotion process.
  • Support global staffing initiatives including short‑ and long‑term assignments, permanent international transfers, and collaborative training initiatives with other sites.
  • Design and deliver effective employee onboarding and new employee orientation programs.
  • Shape culture and leadership development strategies that drive improved engagement and performance of employees and leaders at the site.
  • Contribute to global or network M & Q HR projects and processes aligned with the HR strategy, provide input to design and implementation plans, and share best practices across the network, M & Q and HR organizations.
  • Identify and act on opportunities for continuous improvement in HR and site processes, systems and tools.
  • Support change management efforts across the site, helping leaders communicate effectively, supporting employees through periods of growth and transition.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the organization, building relationships with employees, and engaging directly where and when they work to understand the pulse of the organization.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least 2 years of HR Business Partnership and/or supporting HR COE or relevant business areas.
  • Position requires onsite work in Houston, TX.
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. Lilly will not provide or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role.
Additional Preferences
  • Human Resources and/or Manufacturing site experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building rapport and influencing others.
  • Project management and organizational skills; flexibility and versatility in managing projects and workload.
  • Change management experience.
  • Ability to use analytics to diagnose problems and evaluate the effect of changes implemented.
  • Technical knowledge:
    Experience with Workday in an HR environment, comfort using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint), and curiosity and fluency with AI tools and emerging technologies.
Other Information
  • Onsite position in a manufacturing facility with limited remote working. Typical workdays Monday through Friday, with occasional evening/weekend work to support the site.
  • Minimal travel required.
Compensation and Benefits

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $58,500 - $137,500. Full‑time employees are also eligible for a company bonus and a comprehensive benefit program, including 401(k), pension, vacation, medical, dental, vision, prescription drug benefits, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, leave of absence benefits, and well‑being benefits such as employee assistance program and fitness benefits.
