Description
Temporary HR GeneralistHighmark Companies runs a lean, hands‑on HR function that touches payroll, onboarding, compliance, and employee experience across a multi‑division construction and restoration company. We’re looking for a seasoned HR Generalist to step in, hit the ground running, and keep the engine moving from July through year‑end.
You’ll be embedded in day‑to‑day HR operations, working alongside leadership, supporting our Paylocity‑based workflows, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks while we continue to grow.
What Highmark Companies Offers- Competitive hourly rate: $28–$32/hr
- Hybrid schedule: 3 days on‑site per week required, with flexibility for remote work as needed after training period.
Under direct supervision and in assistance of the HR Manager:
- Payroll Processing: Assist with and process semi‑monthly payroll in Paylocity for commission and non‑commission employees. Ensure accuracy and timely submission every cycle.
- Onboarding Administration: Own new hire onboarding logistics from offer acceptance through day‑one readiness. Including paperwork, system access, orientation scheduling, and coordination with hiring managers.
- Timecard & Time‑Off Verification: Review and verify timecards, time‑off requests, and related corrections in Paylocity to support accurate and compliant payroll processing.
- New Hire Check‑In Workflows: Coordinate structured 30/60/90‑day touchpoints and check‑in processes for new employees across departments.
- Employee Records & Documentation: Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation in compliance with company policy and applicable federal and state law.
- Employee Recognition: Support administration of the company’s employee recognition program.
- HR Reporting: Generate recurring reports and help maintain data integrity across the HRIS.
- New Hire Logistics: Coordinate equipment, system access, and orientation scheduling for incoming employees.
- SOP Compliance: Complete assigned HR duties in accordance with company‑approved standard operating procedures.
- 4+ years of HR generalist experience
- Hands‑on experience with payroll processing and HRIS platforms
- Strong working knowledge of onboarding, employee relations, and HR documentation
- Comfortable operating independently in a fast‑paced, multi‑department environment
- Proficient in HR software;
Paylocity experience a strong plus
- Experience in construction, trades, or field‑based industries
- PHR or SHRM‑CP certification
