The Department of Corrections HR Office is looking for a detail oriented Human Resource Assistant
2. This role lets you grow your skills by providing support in a number of human resource program areas for State Correctional Institution (SCI) Chester.
- Timekeeping Support: Provide guidance and assistance to employees using our timekeeping system, allocate overtime, troubleshoot errors, and make corrections.
- Maintain Documentation: Gather, coordinate processes, and track documentation needed for employee leave, separations, workers’ compensation, modified duty, and other matters.
- Separation Processing: Prepare forms, issue letters, ensure property is returned, and unlock records for timely final payout.
- Track Staff Changes: Submit requests to make sure staff taking on extra duties are paid correctly, role assignments and work schedules, coordinate the modified duty program, and maintain and distribute status reports.
- Employee Orientation: Present time, pay, and benefit information to new employees; provide guidance and answer staff inquiries.
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part‑time, up to one day per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Chester, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Human Resource Assistant 1 (Commonwealth title); or
- One year of clerical or other comparable experience and one year of beginning level paraprofessional human resource or equal opportunity work; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
