Human Resources Generalist

Role

Human Resource Generalist at Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS), located in Carson, CA. This full‑time position is responsible for managing employee relations and general HR duties in a high‑volume hourly manufacturing environment.

Employee Relations

• Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns, complaints and workplace issues
• Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into employee relations matters
• Partner with supervisors to promote a positive, inclusive, and compliant work environment
• Ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and employment laws
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of employee relation cases
• Support conflict resolution and mediation efforts in a fast‑paced, high‑volume hourly environment

General HR Responsibilities

• Support all aspects of internal and external recruitment and selection processes for hourly positions, including completing new hire documents and data entry
• Conduct phone, virtual, and in‑person interviews
• Stay current with recruiting methods and attend job fairs and career events
• Coordinate, update, and deliver new hire orientation programs and onboarding sessions
• Process employee status changes such as promotions, salary adjustments, new hires, and terminations, and track reports on these changes by month, quarter, and year
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of HR policies, employee records, leave of absence, benefits, compensation, and relations
• Advise managers, supervisors, and leaders on policies, state and federal regulations, salary issues, and effective HR practices
• Initiate and coordinate activities designed to promote and maintain a high level of employee morale
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Human Resources

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience, with exposure to employee relations
• Legal authorization to work in the United States (verification at hire)
• U.S. person status required by ITAR regulations

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
• 5 years of Human Resources experience
• HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR)
• Experience in an engineering, production, and/or manufacturing environment supporting both exempt and hourly work forces
• Familiarity with human resources information systems and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
• Knowledge of California employment laws
• Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems
• HR experience at a large global corporation with an HR Shared Services function

• Must be able to work on site full time in Carson, California. Remote work not considered.

The position offers competitive wages ranging from $78,000 to $95,000 per year and a comprehensive benefits package available day one of hire, including health, dental, and vision insurance, an excellent 401(k) matching program, paid holidays, and vacation.
