The Pet Supplies Plus (PSP) Human Resources department is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Business Partner who will work closely with store leaders to support functional responsibilities including employee relations, engagement, recruitment, compliance, compensation, performance management and people metrics.
Key Responsibilities Include:Employee Relations & Compliance:
Cultivate effective working relationships with store leaders by providing counsel on people‑management and employee relations. Guide leaders in their understanding and use of the company handbook, employment‑related policies and performance management and corrective action. Ensure legal compliance of all state and federal regulations and guidelines. Conduct investigations and facilitate the ADA interactive accommodation process as needed. Research unemployment claims, minimizing costs through effective performance and policy coaching with store leaders.
Recruiting & Staffing:
Partner with Recruiting and Store Leadership to support recruiting efforts for new stores within assigned markets. Participate in the internal selection process for future store leaders, including succession planning and talent reviews. Partner with leaders to maintain high talent standards and anticipate workforce‑planning needs for hourly and salaried positions.
Talent Development & Performance Management:
Provide input on employee development and performance management programs to support company growth, culture, engagement and vision. Provide coaching to leaders on effective performance reviews and management. Facilitate the annual engagement survey, recognition and action‑planning process. Enable a culture where individuals are accountable for their results and take pride in their individual and collective successes.
Bachelor's degree preferably in Business or a related field, or equivalent work experience. 1–2 years of HR generalist experience, preferably in the retail industry. Knowledge of employee‑relations practices, investigative skills, and how to apply state and federal employment laws. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, growing environment. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to react appropriately under pressure and in ambiguous situations.
Willingness to consistently provide superior customer service. Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CoPilot. Ability to travel as required, typically 2–4 times per year.
