Regulatory Compliance Specialist
The Department of Corrections;
Field Human Resource Office Region 4 is seeking to fill a Human Resource (HR) Assistant 1 position. This position provides a variety of human resource support duties to the State Correctional Institutions (SCI) Somerset and Laurel Highlands. This position is physically located at SCI Somerset.
This role allows you to develop expertise in HR tasks that keep daily operations on track.
Responsibilities- FMLA Coordination: Submit FMLA requests, forward documentation, and apply policy knowledge to answer questions and ensure proper leave entry in SAP
- Modified Duty Support: Arrange modified duty assignments for employees as needed
- Labor Relations Tasks: Receive and log grievances, prepare files, track information requests, and draft responses for review
- Position Description Oversight: Maintain tracking systems for PD accuracy, provide guidance on OLPD use, and recommend updates
- Personnel File Management: Maintain OPFs and e-OPFs, upload required documents, and verify and certify records in SAP
- Full‑time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30‑minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home part‑time; up to one day per week after successful completion of a 6‑month probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Somerset, PA.
The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview. - Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of clerical or other comparable experience which involved obtaining, providing, and evaluating information in accordance with established standards; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

Legal Requirement:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
