Regulatory Compliance Specialist, HR Manager, HR Generalist / Talent Management
Overview
At Workiva, the Benefits Manager, Americas will be responsible for operating and delivering the health, welfare, retirement, and leave programs across the United States and Canada. This high‑visibility role supports roughly 2,300 employees and requires deep expertise in complex leave administration, ADA accommodations, and cross‑border plan management.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the internal lead for all Americas leave programs, including FMLA, disability, and paid family leave.
- Manage the end‑to‑end interactive process for ADA accommodations, partnering with Legal, People Business Partners, and People Services.
- Oversee the annual open enrollment process, wellness initiatives, ACA reporting, non‑discrimination testing, and 401(k) plan administration for about 2,000 domestic employees.
- Partner with regional brokers to manage and optimize supplemental and statutory benefits in Canada, staying ahead of local legislative changes.
- Hold carriers and third‑party administrators accountable to SLAs and act as the primary escalation point for complex claims or employee issues.
- Collaborate with the People Systems team to maintain integration between Workday HCM and benefits vendors.
- Champion AI‑driven tools to automate repetitive data tasks, streamline workflows, and provide predictive insights for compliance and employee experience.
- Analyze benefit data to solve ambiguous problems, identify alternative procedures, and establish best practices for plan design and compliance.
- Exercise independent judgment on methods and evaluation criteria, and collaborate across Total Rewards and People & Culture for sensitive employee matters.
- 6+ years of progressive HR/Benefits experience, heavy emphasis on U.S. benefit operations and multi‑country coverage.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field.
- Deep knowledge of FMLA, ADA processes, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA compliance.
- Strong proficiency in Workday Benefits Administration and advanced Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis.
- Preferred experience in Canada or LATAM.
- Less than 10% travel required.
- Reliable internet access for remote work as needed.
- Salary range in the U.S.: $106,000 – $172,000.
- Discretionary annual bonus.
- Restricted Stock Units granted at hire.
