Human Resources Director

The Michigan Civil Service Commission is seeking an experienced Human Resources (HR) professional to be the Human Resources Director for the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). As the HR Director, you will drive initiatives that support the agency's mission by securing its greatest asset – its employees – and helping them deliver outstanding results for the State of Michigan.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    Developing and executing HR strategies that aligns with the agency's objectives, values, and culture.
  • Talent Acquisition:
    Attracting and hiring talented candidates, ensuring the right people are in the right roles.
  • Compliance:
    Ensuring HR and the agency operates within established rules, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Employee Relations:
    Working with employees and exclusive representatives through effective communication and problem solving to maintain a harmonious and productive work environment.

This position generally requires possession of a bachelor's degree in any major and two years of experience as a professional manager or program/staff specialist, or equivalent experience.
