Payroll Specialist job at Robert Half – Phoenix, AZ.
We are looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Phoenix, Arizona. This role involves managing payroll operations for a workforce of approximately 250 employees, including some based out of state. The ideal candidate will have experience with payroll systems, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities- Handle bi-weekly payroll processing for 250 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state-specific regulations.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Controller to address payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
- Utilize payroll software such as Paycom or Sage to manage and execute payroll operations efficiently.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation for audits and reporting purposes.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of employee benefits, including retirement plans and other deductions.
- Provide support for payroll system updates or transitions, as needed.
- Assist in onboarding new employees by setting up payroll profiles and verifying information.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure payroll compliance and address any errors proactively.
- Adapt to a flexible hybrid schedule, working both in-office and remotely as needed.
- Proven experience in payroll management, preferably handling large employee pools.
- Proficiency in payroll software systems, with familiarity in Paycom and Sage being highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and benefits administration.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with team members.
- Familiarity with auditing processes and payroll reporting standards.
- Experience managing payroll for employees across multiple states.
- Availability to work a hybrid schedule, combining in-office and remote work.
