Role Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources (HR) Operations, the Manager, Human Resources Operations will play a vital role in refining Alliance’s human resource functions to better serve all Alliance staff, both at the Home Office and our school sites. The Manager, HR will lead key aspects of HR operations, with a specific focus on the staff life cycle from entry to exit, including onboarding, benefits, leaves, exits, required trainings, special assignments or duties, vacancy projections, and workers’ compensation for a portfolio of schools or Home Office teams.

While leading this work, the Manager, HR will identify opportunities to improve efficiency and ensure “best in class” customer service. The Manager, HR will also ensure Alliance is in compliance with all federal and state laws, and ensure we are implementing Alliance policies with fidelity.

Essential Responsibilities HR Expertise and Leadership
  • Review and refine the onboarding and exiting processes to ensure all staff members in the portfolio of schools or Home Office teams experience excellent HR customer service at the start and conclusion of their employment.
  • Lead and facilitate the interactive accommodation process for staff within their assigned portfolio, evaluate medical documentation, partner with school leadership and HR leadership to identify reasonable workplace accommodations under ADA/FEHA, track implementation, and ensure compliance and consistent support across sites.
  • Coordinate with the Associate of Leaves on leave requests (FMLA, CFRA, personal, etc.) and workers’ compensation claims, including ensuring the timely reporting of all employee injuries within the portfolio of schools or Home Office teams.
  • Provide expertise and oversight on key HR-related issues including required trainings, special assignments or duties, vacancy projections, maintaining credentials of certified staff, etc. within the portfolio of schools or Home Office teams.
Project and Systems Management
  • Develop operational plans, with clear and measurable goals that align with Alliance’s larger HR and talent strategy, initiatives, and organizational priorities.
  • Ensure integrity and timely processing of all HR transactions, tickets, and adherence with record retention laws and industry standards within a portfolio of schools or Home Office teams.
  • Document administrative procedures and policies; evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency as necessary.
  • Provide required information for all audits and produce compliance reports for a portfolio of schools or Home Office teams.
  • Review suitable application of policies and procedures to all staff, regardless of position or status within a portfolio of schools or Home Office teams.
  • Leads and manages the project plan for one of the designated core projects:
    Oversight Compliance: HR compliance and oversight; drive annual staff safety/compliance training rollouts, oversee progress tracking and suspension/termination protocols, and audit ESSA grids, rosters, and vendor records for compliance submissions.
