Are you a human resource professional interested in starting a new and exciting chapter in your career? The Department of Corrections (DOC) Human Resource (HR) office is seeking a Human Resource Analyst 1 with excellent communication skills and exceptional work ethic to join our team. While working within the Talent Management Division in the DOC HR Office, you will be providing talent planning services and processing talent acquisition actions.

In this role, you will be supporting the entire hiring process for assigned facilities by providing technical advice, support, and guidance to help fill vacancies and ensure a cohesive and consistent approach to hiring activities in alignment with agency policy. As a Human Resource Analyst 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Hiring Guidance: Research and evaluate data to determine the best strategies for attracting qualified candidates and provide technical guidance to hiring managers about the options and resources available
  • Interview Support: Assist with coordination and scheduling; provide examples and guidance to ensure all questions are work-related and appropriate; and help managers navigate selection processes
  • Applicant Contact: Explain application and hiring processes to both internal and external candidates, help identify opportunities for employment and upward mobility, and facilitate onboarding activities
  • Pay Analysis: Compare pay scales and requirements to provide hiring managers with pay placement options that ensure employees are compensated in compliances with appropriate processes, procedures, and union contracts
  • Hire Action Processing: Verify and coordinate final hiring steps including background checks, enterprise position action request (ePAR) processing, and candidate notifications
  • Customer Service: Review and analyze complaints related to employment or promotion practices; respond to emails and phone calls regarding this and other guidance, support, contact, and analysis provided in this role
Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Human Resource Management Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);
    or
  • One year as a Human Resource Assistant 2 or an Equal Opportunity Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);
    or
  • One year of paraprofessional analytical experience and a bachelor’s degree;
    or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
