Employee Relations Business Partner
We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Business Partner to manage and resolve complex employee relations matters. This role focuses on conducting thorough investigations and providing sound, legally compliant recommendations through a structured ticketing system. You will collaborate with HR Business Partners and leadership to ensure consistent and fair resolution of sensitive workplace issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage employee relations cases and risk ticketing through a structured system, with a focus on investigations.
- Conduct comprehensive investigations into employee complaints and misconduct by gathering statements, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing documentation.
- Engage with HR business partners and leadership to assess risk, address concerns, and determine appropriate actions for consistent resolution.
- Provide clear, well-documented case summaries and recommendations for resolution or disciplinary action.
- Advise on complex issues, including harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, while ensuring an understanding of past issues and precedents.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. employment laws, including Title VII, FMLA, and Department of Labor regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality in all interactions and participate in strategy sessions with a small, collaborative team.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
3-5 years of direct experience in Employee Relations with a strong focus on investigations, case resolution, de-escalation, and conflict resolution with leadership. This role is not a call center or onboarding position.
Technical
Skills:
Experience with Workday or a similar HRIS platform is required, along with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge: A deep understanding of U.S. employment laws and HR compliance, including Title VII, FMLA, and Department of Labor regulations is necessary. Strong judgment, discretion, and communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume ER environment.
- An HR certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP.
- A background in the restaurant, retail, or service industries.
- A level-headed personality and effective listening skills.
Work Environment
This is a remote position; however, candidates must be based in or near the San Antonio, TX area. While day-to-day work is performed remotely, local residency is required to support business and team alignment. The role includes approximately three days of initial onsite training in San Antonio. Flexibility outside standard 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM hours may be needed to support investigations and gather statements.
