Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire an HR Assistant. Reporting to the Manager, HRBP, this position supports the Labor and Employment practice group in overall planning and administration of Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and functions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining personnel records, preparing HR documents for employees, answering routine inquiries, and performing other duties as assigned. Works under close supervision and supports the activities of the HRBP for the attorney population.
This position can reside out of the Philadelphia or Boston offices and offers a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.
Responsibilities include:General HR
Provide assistance to HRBP, the larger HR team and practice groups on various special projects, as needed.
Be available to effectively field and answer a variety of questions, including but not limited to payroll, benefits, vacation, hours, etc.
Organize and update tracking systems and documents and proactively seek ways for the HRBP and team to be more efficient.
Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day of attorneys to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
Assists with arranging new hire check-in meetings and 45-day check-ins.
Under the direction of HRBP, assist with voluntary and involuntary separation process, including being responsible for processing departures and all relevant logistics.
Coordinates with Local HR to confirm the collection of firm property, security badge and keys upon departure for assigned offices.
Liaises with HRBPs/Management and employees to provide support as requested.
Assists with the annual and mid-year attorney and legal staff evaluation processes.
Supports the firm's management principles, policies and programs and ensures they are fairly applied.
Assists with memo and document preparation for personnel actions at the direction of Manager, HRBP.
Maintains accurate and up to date human resource files, records, and documentation with confidentiality and integrity.
Assists with employment verification process upon escalation.
When support is needed, completes local I-9 processes for new hires and departures and supports the PG/Department HRBP with immigration issues accordingly.
Liaise with Local HR, Attorney Recruiting, Talent Acquisition and/or Compliance departments to ensure personnel records are received and filed appropriately.
Support the HRBP with ensuring bar membership compliance and employment verifications.
Prepare Workday notifications for all attorney actions and updates.
Work with HR Shared Services to ensure HRIS transactions are processed timely and accurately.
Assist attorneys with systems-related questions and efficiently generate relevant reports.
Run reports for HRBPs as requested.
Contributes to Firm and HR projects assigned.
Liaises with HRBPs and Centers of Excellence including Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Compliance, HRIS and Compensation to provide support as needed in areas such as performance evaluations, transaction requests, employee relations, recruiting, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in HR or related field preferred. Ideally one year of Human Resources experience, preferably in the professional services industry.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Excellent organizational skills; effective written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Workday.
High energy; self-motivated; results oriented.
Confident manner; ability to establish credibility quickly.
Ability to work comfortably in a matrix organization.
Ability to deal positively with adversity and difficult situations.
Team player who can establish trust with all levels of personnel.

For positions in Boston, MA the salary range for this position is $53,200.00 - $85,150.00
