(This is a hybrid position that combines remote work with monthly in-person meetings in the Augusta area, travel to community health centers throughout Maine, and attendance at career fairs, outreach events, and other meetings as needed.)
SummaryThe Health Careers & Workforce Development Program Manager supports statewide workforce initiatives that strengthen recruitment, retention, and career pathways within Maine’s community health centers. Serving as a connector between health centers, education partners, workforce organizations, training providers, and community stakeholders, this role advances strategies to grow and sustain CHC workforce pathways.
This position leads workforce outreach and engagement efforts, including school and community outreach, career events, partner engagement, and development of resources that promote CHC careers. Working closely with the Director of Workforce Initiatives and MPCA’s Workforce team, this role manages workforce development programs, supports training initiatives, facilitates learning opportunities, provides technical assistance to health centers, and contributes to innovative workforce solutions that meet the evolving needs of Maine’s community health workforce.
Key Responsibilities Workforce Outreach & Career Pathway Development- Develop and implement outreach strategies that promote community health center careers, training opportunities, and workforce pathways to students, job seekers, and community partners.
- Represent MPCA and Maine’s community health centers at career fairs, school visits, workforce events, conferences, and community outreach activities.
- Collaborate with schools, colleges, workforce development organizations, community-based organizations, training providers, and other stakeholders to coordinate workforce pathways initiatives.
- Develop presentations, outreach materials, and resources that highlight community health center career opportunities and available workforce programs.
- Support health centers in strengthening recruitment strategies, increasing employer visibility, and connecting with potential workforce candidates.
- Maintain and enhance workforce recruitment resources, including MPCA’s recruitment webpage, career pathway resources, and other workforce tools.
- Manage and coordinate workforce development programs, including vendor-based and multi-cohort training initiatives that support recruitment, retention, and advancement of CHC employees.
- Partner with community health centers to identify workforce needs, recruit participants, coordinate enrollment, and monitor learner progress.
- Develop and maintain relationships with training vendors, education partners, and workforce stakeholders to expand workforce development opportunities.
- Facilitate workforce learning opportunities, including webinars, trainings, peer learning spaces, and professional development activities.
- Lead workforce engagement activities, including peer learning opportunities, Workforce Office Hours, Recruitment Round tables, and other network-based initiatives.
- Develop and distribute workforce communications, including bi-monthly Workforce Digest, workforce updates, and member resources.
- Provide technical assistance and resources to community health centers related to workforce recruitment, retention, training, and professional development strategies.
- Support the implementation of workforce initiatives aligned with grant objectives, including program planning, health center site visits, outreach, communications, evaluation activities, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate workforce-related projects, timelines, deliverables, and partner engagement activities.
- Contribute to grant reporting, evaluation efforts, quality improvement activities, and development of new workforce opportunities.
- Identify emerging workforce needs and opportunities in collaboration with community health centers, Director of Workforce Initiatives, and MPCA’s Workforce team.
