The Director of Learning & Development develops and executes the organization’s learning strategy to build the skills and capabilities needed for future success. This role works closely with business leaders to identify needs, develop training content, and create practical learning solutions for employees and leaders. The director brings strong technical learning expertise and insurance industry knowledge, leverages evolving learning technologies, including AI, and uses data to improve learning effectiveness and business performance.
This role balances strategic vision, business acumen, and active leadership to develop measurable learning experiences that support organizational success and continuous improvement.
The director reports to Human Resources and works from our corporate office in Sarasota, FL.
Key Responsbilities
- Execute an L&D strategy aligned to business priorities and future talent needs.
- Partner with leaders, HR, and SMEs to identify gaps and create a skills-based learning strategy.
- Lead experiential and blended learning programs that build practical capability.
- Advance learning technology, AI-enabled tools, and data-informed practices to improve impact.
- Oversee company learning programs, including onboarding, technical, leadership, compliance, and professional development.
- Lead and develop the L&D team, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
- Reinforce established standards for instructional design, facilitation, learner experience, program evaluation, and learning effectiveness.
- Use data, feedback, and performance measures to evaluate program outcomes and demonstrate business value.
- Manages learning resources, vendor relationships, budgets, timelines, and priorities to ensure effective execution and sustainable results.

The salary range for this position is $114,640-$176,546 annually. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Required
* Bachelor’s degree in Learning and Development, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business; ( Relevant, progressively responsible work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education)
* Eight or more years of experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, Organizational Development, including at least three years in a leadership role.
* Three or more years in commercial underwriting experience.
* Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into practical and measurable learning solutions.
* Experience designing experiential learning, simulations, scenario-based learning, cohort programs, or applied practice experiences.
* Experience using learning technologies, learning management systems, and data to support learning outcomes.
* Excellent communication, consulting, and influencing skills to manage stakeholder expectations.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead organizational change.
* Relevant certification in learning and development, talent development, instructional design, or organizational development.
