Position Summary

The HR Generalist supports the day-to-day delivery of human resources services across BHC, with primary responsibility for recruiting and benefits administration. This position manages assigned recruiting activities from job posting through pre-employment coordination, serves as a resource for employee benefit questions and enrollment processes, and provides general HR support throughout the employee lifecycle. The HR Generalist works closely with the HR Director, hiring managers, employees, payroll, and benefit partners to ensure timely, accurate, compliant, and welcoming HR processes.

This position is primarily remote and will be performed from a home office. Occasional travel to BHC locations throughout Wisconsin may be required. The ideal candidate will reside in Central Wisconsin and be able to travel as needed.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Recruiting and Hiring
  • Coordinate assigned full-cycle recruiting activities, including posting positions, sourcing candidates, reviewing applications, conducting initial screening, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates and hiring managers.
  • Maintain accurate and current job postings, screening questions, candidate records, interview materials, and recruiting status updates.
  • Partner with hiring managers to clarify position requirements, recruiting priorities, interview processes, and anticipated hiring timelines.
  • Support offer preparation, pre-employment requirements, background screening, reference checks, and handoff to onboarding.
  • Provide candidates with a professional, responsive, and consistent experience throughout the hiring process.
  • Track recruiting activity and prepare routine reports on vacancies, candidate flow, hiring progress, and time-to-fill trends.
Benefits Administration
  • Administer assigned employee benefit processes, including eligibility tracking, new-hire enrollment, life-event changes, terminations, and employee communications.
  • Respond to routine employee questions regarding benefit eligibility, enrollment steps, payroll deductions, plan resources, and vendor contacts while referring complex or plan-interpretation questions as appropriate.
  • Review benefit enrollments and payroll-related benefit information for accuracy and coordinate corrections with employees, payroll, brokers, or vendors.
  • Maintain organized benefit records and support annual open enrollment, employee education, audits, reconciliations, and required notices.
  • Protect confidential health and benefit information and follow applicable plan documents, policies, and legal requirements.
General Human Resources Support
  • Maintain accurate employee and applicant records in HR systems and personnel files in accordance with retention, confidentiality, and compliance requirements.
  • Support onboarding, orientation, employment changes, training assignments, leave administration, and offboarding as assigned.
  • Assist with HR reporting, audits, policy administration, employee communications, and process-improvement projects.
  • Provide timely, respectful, and service-oriented support to employees and managers, escalating sensitive, complex, or higher-risk matters to the HR Director.
  • Stay informed about HR practices and applicable employment requirements relevant to assigned responsibilities.
