Are you passionate about supporting employees through some of the most personal moments of their careers? We are seeking a Benefits Specialist, Leave of Absence to manage the majority of our approximately 400 leave cases each year from intake through return to work. You will determine eligibility, track certifications, and coordinate with Payroll and our disability and workers' compensation carriers to ensure employees are paid accurately and their benefits continue without interruption.
You will be the steady point of contact for employees and managers throughout the leave process, maintain compliant case files, and stay ahead of changing federal, state, and local leave laws. - Administers leaves of absence in accordance with applicable federal and state laws (FMLA, ADA, state paid leave programs).
- Manages full case lifecycle for the majority of the 400 leaves/year: intake, eligibility determination, certification tracking, rights/responsibilities notices.
- Coordinates with Payroll to ensure accurate pay, benefits continuation, and premium billing during leave.
- Coordinates with short- and long-term disability and workers' compensation carriers.
- Maintains ongoing communication with employees and managers throughout leave and coordinates return-to-work.
- Maintains compliant leave case files and tracks intermittent leave usage.
- Stays current on changes to federal, state, and local leave laws and updates internal processes accordingly.
- Escalates complex or contested cases to the Director.
- Prepares regular reports on leave metrics for the Director.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 3-5 years of leave-of-absence administration experience, including FMLA and ADA.
- Working knowledge of federal and state leave laws, including state paid leave programs.
- Experience coordinating with short- and long-term disability and workers' compensation carriers.
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing a high-volume caseload.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for employee- and manager-facing case management.
- Experience maintaining compliant case files and tracking intermittent leave usage.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems;
Dayforce experience preferred.
