Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you an experienced HR leader who loves partnering with business owners and executives to solve real people problems?

Do you thrive on variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to make an impact across multiple organizations?

Turning the Corner HR is on a mission to end suffering at work, and we're looking for an experienced HR Director to join our team and provide fractional HR leadership to our growing client base.

Turning the Corner is a people-first HR consultancy that partners with small and mid-sized organizations to build healthier, more effective workplaces. Our team supports clients through strategic HR, recruiting, leadership development, and employee experience work.

This isn't a traditional internal HR Director role. You'll serve as a trusted HR leader to multiple clients across different industries, quickly learning their businesses, building relationships with their leaders, and helping them solve both strategic and day-to-day people challenges.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Serve as a trusted HR advisor to business owners, executives, and leadership teams.
  • Provide fractional HR leadership to multiple small and mid-sized clients across a variety of industries.
  • Help clients solve costly people challenges including turnover, employee relations, performance issues, engagement, compensation, organizational structure, and staffing.
  • Coach leaders through complex employee relations matters, including performance and behavior issues, leaves, staffing reductions, and other sensitive situations.
  • Develop practical HR strategies, processes, policies, and programs that support each client's business goals and culture.
  • Advise clients on federal, state, and local employment laws, with particular expertise in Colorado.
  • Help growing organizations build and scale effective people practices.
  • Move comfortably between strategic advising and hands-on execution based on what each client needs.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships that make you an extension of the client's leadership team.
  • Support clients throughout the Denver metro area, from Broomfield to Castle Rock, as well as remotely support clients across the US.
What You Bring
  • 10 years of progressive HR experience, including significant HR leadership experience.
  • Experience advising owners, executives, and senior business leaders on complex people matters.
  • Deep knowledge of employee relations, performance management, employment law, organizational development, and HR best practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of Colorado employment law; multi-state experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance business needs, employee experience, and compliance.
  • Experience coaching managers and leaders through difficult or sensitive employee situations.
  • Ability to quickly understand different businesses, cultures, personalities, and priorities.
  • Comfort shifting between high-level strategy, detailed research, and tactical execution.
  • Strong judgment and the confidence to provide clear recommendations---even when the answer isn't black and white.
  • A practical, flexible approach and the ability to meet clients where they are.
  • Experience in HR consulting, professional services, or a multi-client environment is highly valued.
  • SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or similar certification preferred.
What We Bring to the Table

We are an ego-free, mission-driven team that genuinely cares about one another, our clients, and our mission to end suffering at work.

We believe great work and flexibility can coexist. Our team is trusted to manage their work with autonomy while staying highly connected and accountable to our clients and one another. We come together regularly to collaborate, problem-solve, and support each other.

As a full-time member of the Turning the Corner team, you'll receive:

  • Salary range: $105,000 - $115,000
  • Medical benefits
  • 401(k)
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Company-provided equipment and supplies
  • A flexible, primarily remote work environment with regular client and team interaction throughout the Denver/Boulder metro area

This is a full-time position with the opportunity to work with a wide variety of organizations, leaders, and people challenges while being part of a collaborative HR team.

If you're an experienced HR leader who enjoys solving problems, building relationships, and making workplaces better, we'd love to meet you.
