Vice President, People & Culture

Location: Remote (U.S.), with occasional domestic and international travel
Reports to: Chief People Officer (indirect reporting to the business unit's Managing Director)
Status: Full-time, Exempt

About Our Client

Our client is a large, fast-growing national insurance distribution organization. This role is the senior People & Culture leader dedicated to one of its growing business units.

Job Summary

The Vice President, People & Culture partners with business and enterprise leaders to translate People & Culture strategy into business-specific priorities that support performance, growth, organizational effectiveness, and a consistent employee experience. You'll be a member of the business unit's leadership team and a key link to the broader enterprise People & Culture function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day People & Culture operations for the business unit, keeping programs, processes, and communications consistent, scalable, employee-centered, and aligned with company values
  • Leverage enterprise shared services, Centers of Excellence, systems, and standards while addressing business-specific needs
  • Bring business-unit perspective into enterprise People & Culture planning to advance consistent, people-first practices while preserving agility
  • Partner with the Chief People Officer to translate strategy into priorities across talent management, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, engagement, leadership development, succession planning, and culture
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to leaders on employee relations, performance, team effectiveness, communication, conflict resolution, change management, and leadership capability
  • Oversee the employee lifecycle, including recruitment support, onboarding, performance management, development, internal mobility, offboarding, and retention
  • Lead people-related integration of acquired agencies, including onboarding, benefits and policy transition, culture integration, communications, and leader support
  • Use people data, employee feedback, engagement results, and HR system reporting to inform recommendations and measure program effectiveness
  • Ensure consistent application of policies and employment requirements, partnering with Legal to reduce risk and promote compliance
  • Develop and improve recognition, engagement, and culture-building programs
  • Lead continuous improvement across the employee lifecycle, including simplification and automation where appropriate
  • Responsibly adopt approved AI tools to streamline workflows while maintaining human oversight and data privacy standards
Supervisory Responsibilities

None at this time; may grow into a supervisory role as the business unit expands.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, plus 7–10 years of experience in benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • At least three years of experience in insurance, financial services, or a similarly regulated industry; insurance experience preferred
  • Solid knowledge of People & Culture practices, policies, and employment law; international experience preferred
  • Experience implementing systems and processes that build a productive, engaging culture
  • Proficiency with HRIS and applicant tracking systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Professionalism and discretion with sensitive and confidential information
Work Environment

This is a fully remote position supporting employees and leaders across distributed locations. Occasional domestic and international travel is required for M&A integrations, quarterly leadership meetings, planning sessions, and other business needs.
