Aboutthis Role
JOB SUMMARY:
The IT Manager designs, implements, and maintains reliable and secure IT systems that support daily business operations and field activities. This role oversees infrastructure, service desk, and key enterprise applications; partners with the IT Director on modernization and integrations; and ensures strong service quality, operational governance, and security compliance across office and jobsite environments.
Role Mission:
Lead IT operations for a multi-site construction/field environment—owning infrastructure, networks, service desk, and key enterprise applications—while modernizing platforms and elevating service quality. Partner with business and corporate IT to deliver secure, reliable technology that enables office and jobsite productivity.
Outcomes in the First 6–12 Months:
- Stabilize core infrastructure (vSphere, Windows services, storage/backup) to 99.9%+ availability; document runbooks and RTO/RPO.
- Establish ITSM practices with measurable SLAs; improve first-contact resolution and reduce mean time to restore (MTTR) by 30%.
- Harden identity, patching, backup, and logging controls; close top audit findings and align with ITGC expectations.
- Modernize endpoint management (SCCM/Intune) and standardize images; reduce manual build time by 50%.
- Upgrade/integrate ERP and field applications (e.g., Sage 300 CRE or similar) and deliver dashboards using SSRS/ad-hoc SQL/Power
BI.
Pay:This is an exempt/salary position. The pay range is $100,000 - $130,000. Pay may vary depending on your location, skills, and experience.
Location/Travel: Position will be based in our Rapid City, SD corporate office. Up to 30% travel required.
What You'll DoInfrastructure & Cloud Operations
- Own availability, performance, and lifecycle management for virtualized compute, storage, and Windows server platforms (e.g., vSphere HA, SAN/NAS, DHCP/DNS, print services via GPO).
- Lead enterprise networking operations (routing, VLAN/VLSM/segmentation) across Cisco/Meraki environments, including remote offices and jobsites.
- Establish robust backup/DR posture (e.g., Veeam), conduct periodic restore tests, and drive recovery when needed.
Applications & Data
- Administer and enhance core business systems (e.g., ERP/accounting and field apps), coordinating upgrades, integrations, and vendor support.
- Deliver reporting and analytics through SSRS/ad-hoc SQL to support operational and executive needs.
- Oversee company web properties and related integrations with internal systems.
End-User Services & Field Enablement
- Run the service desk with ITSM best practices (incident, request, problem, change), meeting SLAs and improving first-call resolution.
- Manage endpoint lifecycle and configuration (e.g., SCCM imaging, device upgrades, mobile/tablets), onboard new hires, and provide targeted user training.
- Enable field operations by standing up remote offices (networking, printers, boosters) and supporting operational communications (e.g., radios) with standards for ordering, programming, and deployment.
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Enforce security policies for identity, access, patching, backups, and logging; participate in risk assessments and remediation plans.
- Maintain system and process documentation, knowledge bases, and user guides.
People, Vendors & Budget
- Supervise and develop IT staff; provide technical guidance and set clear operational standards.
