The LocationTaconic Biosciences is seeking an Application Scientist to join our dedicated Strategy Design team in this remote position. This position works primarily remote (90%) with ad hoc needs (10%) to visit our sites. Qualified candidates will be based in the continental U.S. and be comfortable working eastern time zone hours.
The Pay Range$80,000 - $90,000. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range, however, please note that the upper end of the range is not guaranteed to be offered.

The RoleThe Application Scientist is a member of the Scientific Solutions Strategy Design Group and is responsible for developing custom project proposals that align customer needs and Taconic solutions. These proposals support the sales process and serve as technical plans for project execution, including detailed strategies, timelines, risk assessments, and estimated pricing aligned with customer deliverables. In addition, the Application Scientist contributes to the development, implementation, and maintenance of global standards, specifications, and best practices for Scientific Solutions products.
This role requires strong genetic knowledge, creative problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail. If you have a passion for genetics, rodent biology, project design and collaboration this is the role for you!
- Lead the development of technical solution proposals for individual sales opportunities, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, customer‑facing materials.
- Responsible for ensuring that custom project designs are well‑conceived, well‑designed, and that risks for failure are transparently communicated and proactively mitigated when possible.
- Serve as a subject matter expert during project planning and execution, providing advanced scientific insight and decision‑making support to internal teams and customers.
- Manage a dynamic workload independently, setting and adjusting priorities as needed.
- Support the development and maintenance of internal guidelines, product specifications, global technical standards, best practices, and training materials grounded in scientific principles and customer feedback.
- Contribute to organizing and maintaining the Scientific Solutions toolbox to ensure effective application and alignment with product rationale.
- Communicate with customers as needed during proposal presentations, troubleshooting, and technical discussions—typically in coordination with Scientific Solutions Consultants or Project Managers.
- Collaborate with product management and other functional teams to assist on the evaluation, selection, implementation and refinement of tools, processes, systems and methodologies.
- Deliver or support training initiatives across Scientific Solutions functions to ensure consistent understanding and application of tools and best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree required, in biology, genetics, animal science or a related field, PhD preferred, or technical/managerial experience at an equivalent level.
- Experience working with genetically modified mouse/rat models and/or background in biomedical research.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience and/or training required.
