This role is a hands-on individual contributor with a strong emphasis on coding, platform delivery, and technical reviews. You will report to the Manager, AI & Machine Learning Engineering, and contribute to advancing our Models as a Service (MAAS) initiative and modernizing our AI/machine learning model delivery platform.

The role involves complex data science projects requiring ML engineering expertise and knowledge of medical claims and Electronic Health Records (EHR). You will leverage GenAI, ML engineering, software development, and data science to deepen product capabilities and develop innovative solutions such as advanced summarization and agentic workflows.

The Lead AI & Machine Learning Engineer will develop, deploy, and industrialize GenAI and machine learning solutions for healthcare, insurance, and adjacent markets.

• ML engineering within the Models-as-a-Service (MAAS) platform, ensuring high-quality and scalable model delivery
• Provide technical guidance, reviews, and mentorship to junior team members
• Collaborate with the data science team, MAAS product owner, AI architect, and Manager, AI & Machine Learning Engineering to drive model and feature delivery from ideation through deployment
• Ensure success of model-driven products across technical and operational dimensions
• Hands-on technical contribution to support MAAS and/or Data Science initiatives

The key area of responsibility for the Lead AI & Machine Learning Engineer is to work as part of our MAAS Team, collaborating with data science and product teams to contribute to AI & ML across our practice.

• Lead end-to-end development, deployment, and maintenance of AI infrastructure and applications from proof-of-concept to production
• Collaborate with Product Owner, AI architect, and stakeholders to align technical and product objectives
• Provide technical proficiency in AI/ML engineering and data science, including framework/library/tool selection and optimization
• Develop MLOps, LLMOps, and AIOps solutions
• Act as a ML Engineer with expertise to drive innovative product features from concept to market
• Peer review, audit, and enhance models and code for high standards

• 10+ years of machine learning engineering, GenAI, and data science experience in healthcare, insurance, clinical trials, or related fields
• Experience with the full ML lifecycle from identifying customer needs to proof of concepts, model building, validation, and implementation
• Ability to contribute to cross-functional teams
• Expert level Python and SQL
• Experience with R, PySpark; reading/understanding C#, Rust
• Expert with cloud-based analytics and distributed computing (Databricks)
• Expert with converting on-premise solutions to cloud-ready applications
• Ability to create CI/CD workflows using Git Hub and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform)
• Expert with APIs, AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, AWS Batch), and Git
• Strong programming aptitude (debugging, package design, dependency management, testing)
• Understanding how to build varying inference solutions (single and batch scoring)

• Excellent communication skills, in person and via phone/email
• Ability to translate technical specs or model results for clients and IntelliScript leadership
• Proven ability to understand client analytical needs, translate into an action plan, and deliver
