The Data & Analytics Director will oversee the data strategy, governance, and operations for a specialty property & casualty insurance provider in the Midwest. This role involves managing data infrastructure, ensuring data quality, and leveraging data to support investment strategies and decision-making processes. You will have the ability to interact and work directly with their CIO who is in the process of revamping and overhauling their entire data environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Strategy and Governance:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data management strategy.
  • Establish data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align data initiatives with business objectives.
  • Data Infrastructure and Operations:
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of data infrastructure.
  • Ensure efficient data ingestion, storage, and retrieval processes.
  • Manage data integration from various sources
  • Data Quality and Analytics:
  • Implement data quality standards and perform regular data audits.
  • Develop and maintain data models and analytics frameworks.
  • Support quantitative research and trading teams with data-driven insights.
  • Team Leadership and

    Collaboration:

  • Lead and mentor a team of data professionals, including data engineers, data scientists, and analysts.
  • Foster a collaborative environment with other departments, such as IT, compliance, and trading.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the data team.
  • Technology and Tools:
  • Evaluate and implement advanced data management tools and technologies.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in data management and analytics.
Qualifications
  • Education:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Extensive experience in data management, preferably within the insurance industry, specifically property & casualty
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing data strategies and governance frameworks.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of data management tools and technologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • Familiarity with financial markets and investment strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with alternative data sources and big data technologies.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and AI applications in finance.
  • Certifications in data management or related fields.
