What You Will Do
As the Private Key Infrastructure (PKI) Policy and Governance Specialist, you will serve as a key contributor to the NNSA PKI Programs, providing policy, governance, and risk oversight for enterprise PKI services that support national security, scientific, and operational missions across the NNSA complex. Positioned within the LANL CISO Program Office. Develop, maintain, and maintain the governance of PKI policies, standards, and trust frameworks in alignment with NNSA requirements, DOE directives, and NIST guidance.
Provide governance oversight for digital certificate and cryptographic key lifecycle management across classified environments, support inter-laboratory trust relationships, and represent the PKI Programs in engagements with government stakeholders and partner laboratories. In close collaboration with PKI operations, cybersecurity engineering, compliance, and mission stakeholders, you will support audits and authorizations, respond to cryptographic incidents, and guide modernization and continuous improvement efforts to ensure ePKI services remain secure, compliant, and mission-ready.

Minimum
Job Requirements:
- Experience supporting policy and governance framework for cybersecurity deployment and operations
- Knowledge of information security management, computer/data security, and network security
- Hands-on experience with certificate authorities, key management systems, and related cryptographic technologies
- Experience and understanding of secure systems and cybersecurity principles
- Working knowledge of security standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, FIPS, ISO 27001, CIS)
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
Education/
Experience:
Position requires a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field and 12 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
- Experience working in a governmental, or regulated industry environment
- Strong experience and knowledge with PKI Governance and Compliance
- Experience with DoE NNSA organizations, meeting DoE directives, NIST requirements, and audit and assessment expectations
- Strong experience with Risk Management and Trust Assurance
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or Security+
- Clearance:
Active DOE Q or DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
The work location for this position has the potential for remote work. Remote work is defined as working offsite that is greater than 2 hours from the Laboratory location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitmentRegular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
