Position SummaryThe Project Manager supports institutional priorities by leading the planning and coordination of projects within the ITS department, specifically for the ERP team. This role works closely with programmers and database administrators to develop project timelines, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of project tasks. The Project Manager facilitates communication across technical and functional teams, supports effective resource planning, and ensures project outcomes align with institutional goals.
This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
- Guide projects through the full lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and close-out.
- Develop project timelines, communication plans, and resource allocations in alignment with institutional policies
- Prepare status reports and maintain transparent communication with project sponsors and ITS leadership
- Identify risks, barriers, and dependencies; recommend mitigation strategies; and escalate issues when needed
- Coordinate with ERP leadership team to gather data and support informed decision-making
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including assessments, post-project evaluations, and continuous improvement recommendations
- Support change management efforts, including communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service excellence within the ERP team and the ITS department
- Maintain awareness of applicable compliance and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GLBA, FERPA, etc.) and ensure project planning and coordination activities align with institutional policies and data protection requirements.
- Coordinate with functional stakeholders, ITS leadership, and vendors to support projects involving third-party systems or services, including awareness of vendor risk, data handling considerations, and contractual obligations.
- Other duties as assigned
- Knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) and best practices.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic campus environment.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners.
- Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and present findings to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Trello, Smartsheet, Teams).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to continuous improvement.

This position has been identified as a hybrid telecommuting position and requires the employee to be locally based and able to report to campus. The role is required to be performed fully on campus during the initial onboarding and training period, with the potential to transition to a hybrid telecommuting schedule after that period, based on departmental needs and approval.
The duties are performed during standard work hours of 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. at a predefined approved work location with a set onsite/work from home schedule. Individuals who choose this hybrid schedule will be required to have:
- a dedicated workspace that provides privacy and security
- secure internet access with appropriate upload/download speeds
- review and acknowledge the Telecommuting Guidelines and Telecommuting Agreement for A-State
- The formal education equivalent of an earned bachelor's degree with a major in education, business administration, project management, public administration, information technology, or a related field.
- Three to five years of project management experience, preferably in a higher education or similarly complex environment.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing project timelines.
- Proficiency with project management tools and software.
- Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee
