We are seeking a Systems Administrator (Azure & Hybrid Infrastructure) for our office in Beaverton, OR
. This role is on-site only and is not considered a remote position.
The Systems Administrator is responsible for overseeing the health, security, and forward progress of our internal infrastructure, with a primary focus on Azure Cloud operations and a secondary focus on maintaining our physical on-premises footprint
. You will work autonomously, as part of a team of Systems Administrators, and with third-party vendors to resolve highly technical issues involving all aspects of our hybrid IT environment.
The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional critical thinking, systems analysis, and breadth of cloud, virtualization, and Microsoft ecosystem capabilities, along with excellent problem-solving skills across both modern and legacy environments.
Responsibilities Azure & Cloud Administration- Deploy, administer, and monitor Azure resources (IaaS and PaaS), including:
- Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Storage Accounts, and Recovery Services Vaults.
- Build and manage Azure resources to include scale-out services for high availability.
- Manage Azure cost control, tagging, and resource organization.
- Troubleshoot advanced connectivity issues between on-prem and Azure (e.g., VPN/Express Route).
- Manage Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure AD) in a hybrid environment, including:
- Conditional Access policies, app registrations, and synchronization (Entra Connect) with on-premises Active Directory.
- Administer identity and access management services across third-party platforms (e.g., Okta).
- Set up, administer, and resolve issues with physical and virtual (Hyper-V) servers running:
- Windows Server 2012 R2 through 2025 (GUI and Core) in clustered and non-clustered environments.
- Perform server lifecycle management:
- Administration, maintenance, patching, and planning upgrades/migrations for mixed-generation environments.
- Maintain on-premises infrastructure, ensuring legacy systems (2012 R2/2016) remain operational and secure while managing migrations to newer OS versions or Azure.
- Provide administrative support and troubleshooting for:
- Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), DNS, DHCP, DFS.
- Hyper-V virtualization.
- Microsoft SQL Server environments (coordination and basic admin as needed).
- Manage M365 Endpoint Manager (Intune) for device compliance and configuration.
- Create, modify, and test Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and Intune policies in accordance with company standards.
- Manage Microsoft 365 products and services, including Exchange in a hybrid environment.
- Manage tickets and workflows with our Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), including:
- Vulnerability hardening and remediation.
- Ensuring log collector health and SIEM integration as applicable.
- Investigating and resolving cybersecurity incidents.
- Administer and maintain the internal Endpoint Protection platform:
- Policy management, incident response, and endpoint health.
- Administer enterprise-grade third-party services related to:
- Email security (e.g., Mimecast).
- Identity and access management (e.g., Okta).
- Endpoint protection and data governance solutions.
- Write and maintain documentation for cloud and on-premises architectures, internal processes, and products.
- Generate end-user training and reference materials for new processes, systems, and services.
- Manage personal workflow to ensure efficient operations while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Work issues and projects to completion with minimal supervision.
- Mentor Tier 1 and Tier 2 internal support staff on:
- Cloud technologies, Windows Server administration, and troubleshooting best practices.
- 4+ years of IT work experience, including:
- At least 2 years dedicated to Azure or hybrid cloud…
