Overview
Texas State University Libraries is seeking a Systems Support Specialist I. The Systems Support Specialist I is an entry-level position responsible for providing front-line on-site technical support to library patrons, staff, and faculty at Texas State University Libraries. This role is crucial in maintaining and troubleshooting technology across various library locations, including the Alkek Library, Tech Spots, and Round Rock Campus Library.
The incumbent will work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment, utilizing a ticketing system to manage and resolve technical issues efficiently.

Responsibilities- Provide Tier 1 support for computer hardware, software, and peripherals in library spaces.
- Assist with software installation, updates, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Offer one-on-one assistance to library patrons, staff, and faculty on various technologies.
- Conduct basic training sessions on library technologies and software.
- Perform routine maintenance on library computers, printers, and other devices.
- Participate in the implementation and support of new library technologies.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position:
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of Windows and/or Mac operating systems.
- Familiarity with Office 365, Teams, and other common software applications.
- Strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently as needed.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing work environments.
- Advanced certifications in technology (A+, Networking+, Security+, etc).
- Experience with MDT, Active Directory, ticketing systems or similar software.
- Advanced knowledge in one of the following areas: PC Hardware, Inventory Management, or Lab Management Software.
- Previous experience in a customer service or help desk role.
- Familiarity with accessibility technologies and ADA compliance in technology.
