Senior Data Scientist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join a growing, data-driven organization. In this role, you will partner closely with product, engineering, and business teams to design, build, and deploy analytical and machine learning solutions that influence key strategic decisions.

You will work with large and complex datasets, develop predictive and optimization models, and help operationalize data science within production systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating ambiguous business problems into scalable, data-backed solutions.

This is a hybrid position, with regular in-office collaboration 4 days per week in our Scottsdale, Arizona office and flexibility for remote work 20%.

Key Responsibilities

• Explore, clean, and analyze structured and unstructured datasets to generate actionable insights
• Design, develop, and validate predictive models (e.g., forecasting, optimization, segmentation) and support their integration into business workflows
• Collaborate with engineering and product partners to deploy models into production environments with an emphasis on scalability and reliability
• Build algorithms and methodologies to optimize backend processes and improve business outcomes
• Develop and maintain internal analytics solutions, including machine learning models, statistical testing frameworks, numerical optimization, and streaming data pipelines
• Champion data-driven decision-making and advanced analytics across the organization
• Partner with stakeholders to clarify problem statements, define data requirements, select appropriate modeling approaches, and identify high-impact opportunities for data science

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with additional programming languages or tools is a plus
• Hands-on experience with machine learning techniques such as classification, regression, clustering, and optimization using approaches including linear models, tree-based methods, neural networks, and related frameworks
• Experience with ML and data science frameworks (e.g., Tensor Flow, PyTorch, cloud-based ML platforms, time-series tools)
• Solid foundation in statistics, including hypothesis testing, experiment design, and causal inference
• Experience working with both structured and unstructured data sources
• Familiarity with cloud-based data environments and distributed computing tools (e.g., Spark, Databricks or similar)
• Understanding of software engineering best practices, including version control, testing, and CI/CD for analytical workflows
• Ability to balance rapid iteration with production-quality standards

Experience & Education

• 5+ years of experience in data science or a closely related analytical role
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• Startup/Smaller company experience required as this person will be expected to identify and build new solutions
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively across teams
• Strong communicator able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Interest in mentoring others and growing into increased leadership responsibilities over time
• Experience operating in cloud environments with large-scale datasets
• Familiarity with Agile development practices and modern delivery pipelines
• Prior experience in a SaaS or technology-driven product environment is a plus
