This position is only open to current Residents of Colorado. Incumbent will be required to live in and complete work for CDE within Colorado.

A salary range is posted; offers are based on a salary analysis considering experience, education, and seniority. Work environment: full-time, hybrid. Extended hours, travel (up to 5%), remote work, and travel requirements may apply.
Position SummaryJoin our team as a Nutrition Data Manager. You will lead data strategy, governance, reporting, and evaluation for the School Nutrition Unit. You will develop and maintain data systems, dashboards, and processes; conduct program analyses; provide actionable insights to support leadership and program decisions; and train staff and sponsors on data use and best practices. This role collaborates across teams to ensure data accuracy, compliance, and efficiency, driving innovation in data management and evaluation.
The ideal candidate has knowledge of child nutrition programs, strong data analytics and project management skills, experience with data management and evaluation, and a passion for supporting sponsors who feed kids and strengthen school nutrition programs statewide.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Data Strategy and Governance: Develop, implement, and maintain standardized data policies and governance to ensure accurate, secure, and compliant data across the unit.
- Manage Data Systems and Reporting: Design and maintain dashboards and reporting tools (Tableau, Smartsheets, Excel, Google Sheets) to support program decisions.
- Conduct Program Evaluation and Analysis: Collect, clean, and analyze data to assess program performance and provide insights for planning and improvements.
- Provide Technical Assistance and Training: Train staff, sponsors, and stakeholders on data systems and evaluation tools.
- Collaborate and Innovate: Partner with teams to resolve data issues and implement best practices in data management, reporting, and evaluation.
Occasional in-state travel for technical assistance and meetings; occasional out-of-state travel for conferences (including overnights).
Minimum QualificationsExperience Only: Seven (7) years of professional experience in data management or analysis and management of business processes and systems.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, management, data analytics, public administration, or related field AND three (3) years of professional experience in data management or analysis and management of business processes and systems.
Qualifications for Success in the Position- Experience developing data infrastructure for complex programmatic data.
- Experience designing and implementing program evaluation studies.
- Experience generating Tableau dashboard reports.
- Strong understanding of data management.
- Experience working with large, complex datasets.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage data and quantitative analysis to inform strategic decisions in government or public sector.
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and project management capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to analyze complex information and develop strategic plans.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Experience with child nutrition programs or other federally funded education/nutrition programs.
- Experience with government data management, fiscal accountability systems, or compliance oversight.
- Experience with SQL, R, or Python, and BI tools (Tableau or Power BI).
