The Manager of IT Operations ensures the stability, security, and performance of Shiel Sexton’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and software. Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Manager of IT Operations is responsible for reliable IT service delivery by leading ITSM-driven support processes. They manage day-to-day technical operations, lead IT staff, and align technology initiatives with business goals. Key responsibilities include project management, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementing security protocols.
Roles and Responsibilities- Lead and manage the IT Help Desk, ensuring timely resolution of support requests and adherence to ITSM processes.
- Oversee application lifecycle management, including deployment, updates, performance monitoring, and retirement.
- Manage IT infrastructure including networks, servers, cloud systems, and connectivity across office and jobsite environments.
- Direct and coordinate IT-related projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and successful delivery.
- Collaborate with construction operations teams to align IT services with field and corporate needs.
- Plan and execute hardware and software installations, updates, and configurations.
- Ensure compliance with security standards, backup strategies, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Monitor system performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage vendor relationships and technology procurement.
- Act as an escalation point for technical issues, troubleshooting critical infrastructure
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience leading IT teams using ITSM methodologies (e.g., ITIL).
- Strong understanding of networking, cloud technologies, servers, and enterprise applications.
- Proficiency with incident, problem, service request fulfillment, and change management processes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- 5+ years of IT operations or infrastructure management experience.
- Experience supporting multi-site or construction-industry environments preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing help desk or IT support functions.
- Experience implementing or maturing ITSM frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
- Ability to work collaboratively with field operations and corporate teams.
- Customer-focused approach to IT service delivery.
- Adaptable, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
- Able to be on-call and work during “non-business” days or hours if necessary.
- This position is primarily based within the corporate office in Indianapolis, Indiana, and may require visits to branch offices and other remote sites.
- Willing to travel on occasion and provide transportation capable of reaching office locations within 400 miles of the home office.
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs, comfortable working from temporary elevated surfaces like ladders, and comfortable working while kneeling or bending for a short period of time.
