The National Hardware Specialist for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for leading on‑site implementation of complex automation systems. The Hardware Specialist works closely with many cross‑functional teams including Technical Support, Field Service, Sales, Project Management and Professional Development, and provides national‑level escalation support by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electro/mechanical equipment, networked computer systems, and complex software. This role repairs and updates products in the field, reporting service issues to technical support level.
This position is part of the National Service Support Team covering the United States and will be fully remote; however the position requires a location in the Central United States within one hour of a major metropolitan airport and at least 80% travel, much of it by plane.
In This Role You Will Have The Opportunity To- Exercise judgment, based on prior experience, to identify and solve unique and complex problems with laboratory automation systems.
- Support product and revenue growth through high‑quality execution of implementation processes with varying degrees of complexity.
- Provide technical troubleshooting, both on‑site and via remote phone support, to experienced field service engineers.
- Work with limited supervision within established procedures and practices and collaborate with teammates and the installation team to build productive partnerships.
- Utilize mentoring and training abilities to transfer vital knowledge and technical skills to internal and external customers.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline with 3+ years relevant industry or military experience; or Associate’s Degree with 5+ years relevant industry or military experience.
- Experience must include complex electro‑mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
- Highly flexible and willing to travel domestically at least 80% of the time, often on short notice (within 1 day), working from a home‑based office located within one hour of a major metropolitan airport.
- Proven customer‑facing interpersonal written and verbal communication and facilitation skills.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office) and knowledge of network/LIS communication and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Standard Laboratory Practices, including Quality Control, record keeping, and regulatory requirements.
Accompanying this role, Beckman Coulter Diagnostics offers a remote work arrangement, with the hourly rate in the range of $40.00‑$45.00. This position may also be eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
