Role Summary/

Purpose:

The Vice President, Solution Architect leads hands-on system design and architecture, ensuring time-sensitive projects meet specifications. Deep expertise in solution architecture using UI, API, and full-stack designs, with the ability to influence and lead multiple teams, is crucial.

This VP will lead the architecture and support the development of digital servicing applications by architecting thoughtful solutions and maintaining operational excellence, focusing on scalability, performance, and security as part of the overall solution design. The Solution Architect will design complex business solutions by partnering with business and technology leaders to understand challenges and produce process flows and system interaction diagrams.

We offer choice and flexibility. You may work from home near one of our hubs or come into one of our offices. Occasionally you may be required to commute for in-person engagement activities such as meetings, training, and culture events.

• Design and guide architecture for complex systems that are secure, scalable, performant, adaptable, and meet business needs
• Craft and maintain the architecture roadmap and future state technology strategy, including modernization and migration
• Document systems, data, and business logic to design end-to-end business processes
• Ensure compliance with Synchrony architecture, security, and technology standards
• Lead as an architect for development teams throughout the Agile lifecycle
• Collaborate with software developers, UX designers, product managers, application architects, and customer experts to create exceptional solutions
• Implement new technologies and assist migrations
• Participate in Agile scrums with cross-functional teams
• Design data models for complex processes
• Mentor and influence all levels of the team
• Lead Agile sprints as the technical expert, including planning, standups, backlog grooming, and reviews
• Troubleshoot production defects and provide direction for problem resolution
• Provide 24x7 on-call support periodically
• Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and improve system performance
• Work with third-party vendors to develop or integrate software
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with a minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience, or in lieu of degree, 10 years of experience
• Strong solution architecture experience with complex technical solutions
• Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native patterns
• Experience across full stack including Cloud Native Architecture, RESTful APIs, API Gateway, and Spring
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud and related open-source tech
• Familiarity with JSON, REST, and XML web services
• Experience with database architecture and familiarity with Oracle, MySQL, and SQL
• Pivotal Cloud Foundry experience desired
• Experience with iOS, Android, Web, React and AWS desired
• Experience using Splunk or similar tools for production support
• Experience developing and supporting financial/banking applications desired
• Critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical peers
• Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required

Grade/Level: 12

The salary range is - USD annually and eligible for an annual bonus based on performance. Actual compensation is based on experience and skills. Salaries are adjusted for market in CA, NY Metro, and Seattle.

• You must be 18 years or older
• You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• You must be willing to take a drug test, undergo a background investigation, and submit fingerprints during onboarding
• You must satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act
• New hires (Level 4-7) must complete required time in position before posting to other roles; internal policy varies by level
